Q: Do I need to provide water hook-up?
A: No, we bring fresh water to your home in the mobile salon.
Q: Do I need to provide electric hook-up?
A: We prefer to plug-in when we groom. We have a generator on-board, but the sound of the generator may annoy some neighbors.
Q: Does Pet Club Pro administer sedatives to nervous dogs?
A: No, we are not veterinarians. If your pet is overly anxious, you need to talk to your pet's vet to see if your dog can tolerate a mild sedative. We have introduced aromatherapy as a part of our service. Safe for dogs only as cats cannot tolerate the essential oils used in the diffuser. The lavender oil helps to calm some pets.
Q: Do you muzzle the dogs?
A: If the dog is aggressive, we will use a muzzle with the owner's permission. When booking an appointment for the first time, we need to know the temperament of your dog. Overly aggressive dogs may not be able to be groomed by Pet Club Pro, and will be referred to your veterinarian. The safety of the groomer is a priority.
Q: How long does the grooming take?
A: The average appointment takes 60 to 90 minutes to complete. The time varies with breed, condition and length of coat, service requested, and temperament of pet. Some pets require more time because of excessive matting and difficult personalities.
Q: How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?
A: We can usually book your appointment within 1 week. However, there are times during the year which become very busy and it is recommended to schedule as far as 4 or more weeks ahead.
Q: How often should my pet be groomed?
A: Generally, a grooming every 4-6 weeks is recommended. The frequency varies on a per animal basis depending on breed and coat type. When your pet's coat is maintained, the procedure is easier on your pet, and doesn't take as long. Can you imagine having your hairdresser work on you for 3 hours and with no bathroom break?
Q: Do you express the anal glands?
A: We check the anal glands as part of the regular grooming service and will only express them if needed. Animals naturally express these glands during normal everyday functions and they should not be hand manipulated unless necessary as this may cause irritation or infection. If the glands cannot be easily expressed by the groomer, or are swollen, we will recommend the animal be taken to a vet.
Q: My dog's ears smell. Do you clean out the ears?
A: As part of our grooming service, we swab the outer ear with veterinarian grade medi-ear cleaner. Ear infections are usually the source of the smell and we will recommend the pet be taken to the vet. Your vet will need to check the ears for bacteria or mites to prescribe a remedy for the problem.
